FedEx's New Investment in the Philippines

FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation, announced on October 19 that it will open a new facility worth about US $30 million as the latest investment in the Philippines, celebrating its 36th anniversary.

The 17,000 m² facility is scheduled to open in April 2021 and will be equipped with the latest equipment and will have a cargo sorting capacity of 9,000 pieces per hour. The facility will also have an area dedicated to handling large and particularly heavy freight cargo. With the opening of this gateway facility, authorities in Clark International Airport believe it will need more than 800 employees.

John Peterson, Managing Director of FedEx Philippines said, "With Clark International Airport expanding and customs clearance operations 24 hours a day, we will provide our services to customers throughout the Philippines by moving FedEx's Philippine gateway to Clark. With an increased capacity, extended pickup end times for customers in northern Luzon and Cebu will be shortened, with an average delivery time of two hours to northern Luzon.

In addition, Manila facilities will continue to operate to meet all customer needs. Infrastructure projects currently underway by the Philippine government will reduce travel time between northern Luzon, Metro Manila, and southern Luzon. The relocation of FedEx's facilities will support the government's efforts to alleviate congestion in Metro Manila. "
